SNCF Réseau and the QUARTZ laboratory at ISAE-Supmeca are collaborating on the development of an automated method for studying railway track alignment adjustments prior to rail maintenance operations. Based on a set of measurements taken on the actual track, the goal is to propose a set of track modifications that satisfy a set of geometric and compatibility constraints while minimizing a multi-objective function related to track quality.
The problem is modeled in a structured manner using the DEPS language within DEPS Studio. The consistency of the model is verified, and constraints are automatically generated. Due to its highly linear nature and large scale, the problem is solved using a linear programming solver connected to DEPS Studio.
